Queen's Recreation - Weights & Cardio
The lower exercise areas at Queen's University include 2 free weight training rooms, squash and racquetball courts, machine based strength training equipment and over 75 individual pieces of cardiovascular training equipment. All of these options are available in the lower level of the Physical Education Centre.
If you have any questions or concerns while using the facility, do not hesitate to speak with the on duty supervisor. These staff members will be monitoring the weight rooms and the cardiovascular training areas throughout the day and evening.
Other exercise facilities available in the building include a swimming pool, stretching area, 3 gymnasiums and a combatives room.
Sign-up Policy
Rules for Use of Cardiovascular Conditioning Equipment
If you wish to use a piece of cardiovascular conditioning equipment and it is currently unused, you have the following three (3) options:
1. Sign up for the current time slot and use this time ONLY, or;
2. If there are less than ten minutes of time remaining in the current slot, and the equipment is unused, sign up for and use the remaining time and, if required, sign up for the following slot IF AVAILABLE, or;
3. Sign up for one of the next 3 slots.
Signing up beyond three slots ahead of the current time is NOT PERMITTED.
Sign-up times require you to limit your total use to twenty-five (25) minutes. Please finish your workout and clean the machine within this time frame.
Signing up for two full time slots (consecutive or non-consecutive) at the same time, on the same type of equipment is NOT PERMITTED. If the next slot remains empty when you have finished your current use, only then can you sign up for that time slot.
If you do not arrive within 5 minutes of the start of the slot you have booked, your time is forfeited.
While not all pieces of cardiovascular conditioning equipment require that you sign up to use them, you should conclude your workout within 25 minutes if someone is waiting to use that type of equipment.
If you complete your workout prior to the end of your time slot, cross out your name so that others can use the remaining time.
