Mountain
The mountain biking season of the Queen’s Cycling Team extends through September and into October. During this time span, the team contends in five races in four weekends. The season sees the riders navigating through a range of courses that appeal to all riders. The first two races of the season are typically held at Mansfield, which combines punchy climbs with technical descents. Hardwood Hills is designed and cut for a slightly more technical ride, while Ganaraska tends to be the fastest course of the season. The last race of the season is held at Boler Mountain, where there is no shortage of climbs on this ski location. Regardless, each course offers a variety of enjoyable terrain and appeals to all. The team is divided into four categories based on sex and riding ability. The Men’s A and Women’s A categories are for more experienced riders while Men’s B and Women’s B is designed for riders with little or no racing experience. Points are accumulated over the four weekends and one school takes home the UCUP at the final race.
