KINGSTON, Ont. - The Queen's Gaels men's soccer team closed out their American tour with a heavy 6-0 defeat to the Cornell Big Red on Thursday night in Ithaca, N.Y. The Gaels were playing their third game in four days, and it showed as the hosts, members of the NCAA Division I Ivy League, raced out to a 4-0 lead and were never threatened in the contest.
"We have a few things to work on," said Chris Gencarelli, the Gaels' head coach. "We were very tired, after playing two games in three days, and it showed against this side."
The Gaels went 0-2-1 on their American tour, and return to preseason action north of the border this weekend. They will play Western on Saturday afternoon at the Old Four tournament in Toronto. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
