KINGSTON, Ont. –
Eric Koskins (Richmond Hill, Ont.)' goal in the 55th minute gave the Queen's Gaels a draw, 1-1, against the Le Moyne Dolphins, on Sunday afternoon in Syracuse, N.Y., as the Gaels opened their three-game preseason American tour. The Dolphins, an NCAA Division II school, opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Koskin found the net on a through ball from
Chris Michael (Ottawa, Ont.) to give the Gaels a share of the spoils. The Gaels outshot Le Moyne 8-7. Goalkeepers
Dylan Maxwell (Vancouver, B.C.) and
Maxfield Materne (Toronto, Ont.) each played one half for Queen's, with Materne earning the tie.
“This was a good first test for us,” said Chris Gencarelli, the Gaels' head coach. “It was an even game, but we need to do a better job at maintaining possession. It was a physical game, and we played hard right through to the final whistle.”
The Gaels continue their tour on Monday (Aug. 20) at 5 p.m. as they face the Hobart Statesmen in Geneva, N.Y. Queen's opens conference play on Sunday, September 2 against RMC.
