Brad Marsh joins men’s hockey staff as associate coach

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (August 26, 2011) – Queen's men's hockey coach Brett Gibson is pleased to announce that former National Hockey League all-star defenceman Brad Marsh will be joining the Gaels staff in an associate coaching capacity.

Marsh, originally selected 11th overall by the Atlanta Flames in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft, played with the Flames, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators. His number has been retired by his junior team, the London Knights.

"I am extremely excited to announce that Brad has accepted to come on board and work with our program. He is a guy that worked for everything he got in his career and his attitude is infectious,” said head coach Gibson. “He will only be here on a part-time basis but what he can provide to our program cannot be measured."

After his retirement, Marsh moved into the Senators' front office as director of team and business development and remained there for several years. He has also coached various levels of minor hockey including being named as the head coach of the Ottawa Senators of the Canadian Women's Hockey League on August 31, 2009.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to be working with the Gaels,” said Marsh on joining the staff. “I have a real appreciation for the hard work and commitment it takes to be a successful student athlete and I look forward to working with the players and helping the team succeed.”

The team plays its first pre-season game, the annual Lou Jeffries game, on September 16 against the Royal Military College in Gananoque, Ont. at 7pm. The game takes place at the Lou Jeffries Gananoque Recreation Centre.
