KINGSTON, Ont. (October 14, 2011) - The Queen's Gaels got an all-around team effort to beat Team China in international friendly play by a 6-1 score.
The Gaels got scoring from six different players in the win.
Samantha Regier of Westmeath, Ont.,
Alex Cieslowski of Oakville, Ont.,
Alana Smith of Aurora, Ont.,
Kristin Smith of Toronto,
Morgan McHaffie of Guelph, Ont. and
Shawna Griffin of Redwood Meadows, Alta. all scored for the Gaels who outplayed their international opposition.
All three Gaels goaltenders -
Mel Dodd-Moher of Stittsville, Ont.,
Karissa Savage of Calgary and
Engi Lim of Pierrefonds, Que. all played goal in the game. Savage was in net when the Gaels surrendered China's lone goal but made several good saves in an exhibition shootout at the end of the game.
The game was was hosted by the Kingston Ice Wolves at the Invista Centre where donations were accepted to benefit October Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The Gaels return to action on Sunday October 16 when they take on the UOIT Ridgebacks in Oshawa, Ont. Puck drop is set for 2:30 pm.
