Hulse posts three personal bests in off-season meets

KINGSTON, Ont. (June 8, 2010) – Matt Hulse of Hartington, Ont., continued his strong off-season this past weekend in Guelph, Ont. as he prepares for the National Track & Field Championships later this summer.

Hulse ran a personal-best time of four minutes, 3.45 seconds in the men's mile event at the Speed City Distance Inferno. This time was good enough for second place, six seconds behind Taylor Milne, who won the race in 3:57.50.

This result was built off two strong performances in the previous two weeks as Hulse finished third in the 800m race at the London Distance Classic on June 2. Hulse's time of 1:50.86 was also a personal best for the Gaels runner.

The reigning CIS silver medalist in the 1500m picked up another silver medal in the event at the University of Windsor Open on May 30. His time of 3:44.76 left him six seconds behind Milne, who is widely considered the best runner at the distance in the country.
