Hulse wins silver medal at prestigious Jesse Owens Track Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio (May 11, 2010) – Matt Hulse of Hartington, Ont., won a silver medal in the 1500m event at the Jesse Owens Track Classic as he begins his preparations for the National Track & Field Championships this summer.

Hulse, the reigning 1500m OUA champion, ran a time of three minutes, 45.75 seconds, missing the gold medal position by less than two seconds. For Hulse, it was a personal best time by five seconds.

Hulse began the race towards the back of the pack before he began to make his move over the last 300m. He moved up from 10th to second, finishing just behind Michael Hammond from Virginia Tech, who took home the gold in a time of 3:43.65.

Hulse will continue to prepare for the National trials this summer as he competes in the 401 and West Coast track series'.
