Hulse, Thivierge-Lortie named Athletes of the Week

KINGSTON, Ont. (April 5, 2010) – Queen's Athletics & Recreation is pleased to announce that Matt Hulse of Hartington, Ont., and Charly Thivierge-Lortie of Montreal, have been named the Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 4.

Hulse was honoured with the Jenkins Trophy as the top graduating male athlete at the 74th annual Colour Awards Banquet last week. The fourth year physical and health education major enjoyed an outstanding career as a Gael that saw him multiple medals at the OUA and CIS Track & Field Championships, including five this season. He also led the men's cross country team to three third place finishes as the OUA Championships during the course of his career.

Thivierge-Lortie was named the recipient of the PHE55' Alumnae Trophy as the top graduating female athlete at the 74th annual Colour Awards Banquet. The applied economics major has helped the women's rowing team capture the OUA Championship twice and the national championship once during her tenure with the team. As a member of the lightweight fours and eights crews, she won four gold medals and two silver medals at the OUA Championships and two gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the CURA Championships.
