Zeeman leads Gaels in sweep over Lancers

KINGSTON, Ont., (November 28, 2010) - Joren Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., powered the Gaels with 20 points on Sunday in men's volleyball as the Queen's Gaels swept the Windsor Lancers with set scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-22.

Zeeman, who returned to the lineup after missing three games due to an ankle injury, was pivotal in the win posting 18 kills on 31 total attacks. He also had an ace a block and four digs to help Queen's snap its two game losing skid.

Michael Amoroso of Toronto had 10 points on six kills and a game high four blocks. Matthew Taylor of Toronto recorded eight kills. Setter Jackson Dakin of Courtenay, B.C. posted 38 assists in the win.

Queen's put in a full team defensive effort with all nine player registering at least one dig. Four players recorded four digs including Zeeman, Amoroso, Dakin and Alex Onid of Ottawa.

For the Lancers Kyle Williamson of Essex, Ont., and Harrison Oake of Rodney, Ont., each posted 12 points in the loss. Oake had 12 kills in the game while Williamson registered 11. Williamson was also defensive asset earning seven digs.

The win helps Queen's maintain their second place tie with the McMaster Marauders . Both teams have 16 points and a 8-2 record heading into the December exam break. Western is in front of the OUA standings.

Queen's will return to the court in early 2011 to play in the Trinity Western Invitational Tournament slated for Jan. 3-5 in Langley, B.C. They will resume league action on Jan. 9 at RMC before hosting a two game set in the Athletics and Recreation Centre on Jan 15 & 16 against Waterloo and Laurier.
