KINGSTON, Ont. (January 25, 2010) – Queen's Athletics & Recreation is pleased to announce that Becky Billings of Ottawa, Ont., and Payton Liske of Welland, Ont., have been named the Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 24.

Billings was instrumental in the Gaels posting a pair of victories this past weekend. The second year physical and health education major played stellar defence against both Ottawa and Brock, as she recorded 14 digs against the Gee Gees and followed that up with 29 digs against the Badgers. Billings is now averaging nearly four digs a game this season and has helped the Gaels move to within two points of first place in the OUA East division.

Liske scored his first career CIS hat-trick on Saturday night as the Gaels defeated the Nipissing Lakers 6-3. The first year commerce student scored two goals less than two minutes apart to stake the Gaels to a 3-0 lead and then completed the hat-trick with a powerplay marker late in the third period. The former Saint John Sea Dog now has 14 goals on the season and currently sits second in rookie goal scoring in the OUA.
