Kingston, Ont. (June 4, 2009) – Queen’s University Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael LeBlanc as its new Manager of Marketing, Communications and Events.
LeBlanc will be responsible for managing all aspects of Queen’s Athletics and Recreation (A&R) marketing, communications and events portfolio. He will be focused on increasing the promotion and awareness of the A&R brand as well as its programs and services. Additionally, he will work closely with the department’s current business partners to strengthen existing relationships while identifying and exploring new revenue streams.
Over the next year, Queen’s and the City of Kingston will play host to the 2009 CIS Cross-Country Championships and 2010 FISU World University Cross Country Championship; LeBlanc will lend his marketing and event experience to the operations of these events.
“Michael is a passionate individual who brings a wealth of experience in marketing, sales and event management,” said Leslie Dal Cin, Director of Queen’s Athletics and Recreation. “He has worked extensively in the Canadian amateur and professional sports industry and will aid our department in continuing to improve as well as helping increase our overall revenue growth.”

LeBlanc joins Queen’s from MRX Associates where he was the Director, Special Projects which included overseeing all aspects of the 2007 and 2008 Desjardins Vanier Cup hosted in Toronto and Hamilton. In this role he was responsible for negotiating sponsorship agreements, merchandise, event organization while executing public relations and marketing strategies for the Vanier Cup.
In addition to his experience with MRX Associates, he has held similar roles with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club and the Toronto Lynx Pro Soccer Club. LeBlanc holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Laurentian University with a specialization in Sports Administration (SPAD).
