Kingston, Ont. (June 16, 2009) – Queen's men's hockey Head Coach Brett Gibson announced the addition of two former Canadian Hockey League products on Tuesday with the addition of Payton Liske of Welland, Ont. and Stephane Chabot of Rockland, Ont.

Liske, who played for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) will add to the Gaels front line attack while Chabot – a former Kingston Frontenac - will bolster the Gaels blue line corps.

Liske was one of the smartest players on-and-off the ice in the CHL in 2008-09 earning a nomination for the CHL's top scholastic player of the year. He earned similar honour from the QMJHL as the league's top academic player. Last year he recorded 19 goals and 26 assists with the Sea Dogs and previously was a member of the Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Chabot was a key member of the Ontario Junior Hockey League's (OJHL) Kingston Voyageurs who represented Ontario at the RBC Canada Cup earlier this year. He was named the OJHL's top defenseman tallying 33 points (2G, 31A) in 42 games.

Previously, Chabot had played in the OHL with the Kingston Frontenacs in 2007-08 after playing two seasons with the Brampton Battalion.

“These two recruits were at the top of my list beginning the season,” said Gibson. “Both have four years of major junior experience and bring intangibles to the program that has been missing in the past.”

“Payton will bring size and skill to our offence, while Stephane will be the top paring on the blue line - they both have a winning attitude. With the addition of these two athletes our program continues to head in the right direction,” continued Gibson.
