Hamilton (December 1, 2008) – Brady Morrison (Men's Hockey) of Thamesville, Ont. and Becky Conroy (Women's Hockey) of Pembroke, Ont. captured Ontario University Athletics (OUA) athletes of the week honours for the week of November 24-30. This is the second time that athletes from Queen's have swept this award this term.

Dee Sterling of Kingston, Ont. and Jackie Byers of Mississauga, Ont. were named to top athletes of the week for September 8-14 which was the first time since November 2007 a school garnered recognition for both the men's and women's awards.

Morrison, a second-year goalie, made 48 saves leading the Gaels to an upset victory over the No. 2 UQTR Patriotes on Friday. Morrison was a critical component in the Gaels biggest win of the season turning away several key scoring chances including a huge save late in the second period. The key save saw him sprawl across the crease to maintain a 1-1 tie.

In the follow-up game on Saturday against Concordia, Morrison would tally 29 saves allowing only two goals. The win against UQTR is highly impressive given that it was UQTR's first loss in 12 games and the Gaels were defeated one week early 7-1

Conroy, a third-year forward with the Gaels, was the hero over the final weekend of the 2008 women's hockey season netting two game winners while adding and additional goal and an assist. Heading into the break she is the top scorer in the OUA with 12 goals which is five ahead of the next closest player. She also leads in total-points with 22 and sits third in game winning goals.

On Saturday with the game deadlocked at zero in the third period, Conroy would score giving the Gaels a decisive 1-0 win over Western. Sunday would see Conroy score the game winner on the power play and add another during a 5-1 victory over Windsor.

Only Guelph, Western and Queen's have earned both athlete of the week awards in a single week with Western accomplishing the feat just last week. Since 2006, Queen's is the only school to have earned this distinction twice.
